Viña Borgia obtains 94 points in 15th International Organic Wine Award 2022

Viña Borgia obtains 94 points

Wine competition exclusively for wines made from organically grown grapes (certified organic wine) was celebrated in October, 9th 2022.

Viña Borgia from Bodegas Borsao was rated with 94 points and Gold medal in the Organic Wine Award.

EU-approved competition according to PAR.

Since it was founded in 2009, the international organic wine award became one of the most crucial quality contest in the industry. The participants value the transparency of the results and place trust in the expertise of the jury.

Due to the internationally acclaimed testing method named PAR®, this tasting under the leadership of the sensor expert and PAR® developer Martin Darting managed to build up a great deal of precisely this trust.

The tasting of PAR® contests is based on the international scientific cognitions concerning wine and quality definition; primarily the terroir, in other words, origin, and not the varieties or ascending alcohol and sugar content.

Following the EU Regulation on PDO (Protected Designation of Origin) and PGI (Protected Geographical Indication) dated 2009, the characterisation of terroir is the subject of the quality documentation (PAR = Ranking). The quantitative documentation of wine
contents (Analysis) provides valuable information to winemakers how origin and climate shape their wine. Thus a terroir becomes more and more a replicable and transparent figure for winemakers and consumers.

Each organic wine is individually evaluated by the jury that consists of „PAR® Certified Masters“ working in groups of two. Each nominee receives replicable and objective documentation of its sensory and oenological characteristics, always assessed with respect to its authenticity, origin, and style – a skill of the specially educated jury members maintained by the regular pieces of training.

Besides the marketing benefits, the results of the tasting provide consulting assistance to retail and, also, perform outstanding services to the quality management of the wine-growing estates.Since 2020, the international organic wine award has been devided into a spring and an autumn tastings.

The second best spanish wine in the International Organic wine award was Viña Borgia by Borsao 2021. All of them are First-class wines, international peak, which belong to the most expressive of their kind. A clear, volume emphasised concentration of senso-active substance groups, absolute pure colour note and distinctive characteristics are present.
